Mason’s story with Alaska Works Partnership began in 2014, when he participated in the Rigging and Hand Signal training. This initial exposure to foundational trade skills sparked his interest in electrical work, and after completing the training, he applied to the IBEW Inside Wireman apprenticeship program. With commitment and hard work, Mason stayed in the trade for nine years, eventually reaching journeyman wireman status.

Recently, Mason decided to expand his skills by applying to the IBEW's Lineman Apprenticeship. Selected for the program, he’s now a first-year apprentice again, determined to achieve journeyman status in this new line of work while staying within the trade he’s passionate about.

Reflecting on his journey, Mason credits AWP’s training with instilling the knowledge he needed to work safely and efficiently in high-stakes environments. “The training from AWP helped me maintain a safe career in a fast-paced environment by knowing the dos and don’ts of the working trades,” he shared. This strong foundation in health and safety has not only supported Mason's career but has also made him more employable, opening doors to valuable opportunities along the way.

Today, Mason continues to build on the skills he first developed with AWP, confidently advancing his career and embracing new challenges in the electrical trade.
